If you have been wondering what are the different types of drinking water, we have broken it down for you.
Tap Water/Municipal Water – This type of water is best know as “city water” that comes out of you plumbing fixtures and has certain level of water treatment. It usually looks a little cloudy coming out of the faucet and needs some time to sit so the chlorine can dissipate. It’s always recommended that you use a purification system if this is your only source of water
Spring water – Spring Water is water from a natural underground source, containing a healthy amount of nutrients and minerals. It is collected at the source and distributed. Big water companies market this well because because it’s natural; however, spring water are a higher risk for contaminates because they don’t go through a purification process.
Mineral water – Mineral Water naturally contains many dissolved minerals – iron, calcium, sulfate, potassium, etc, and it has at least 250 PPM (parts-per-million) of total dissolved solids. To bring some perspective to this statement, tap water generally has 300 to 400 PPM. This might not be a better choice over tap water.
Filtered Water – Filtered Water is the use of Carbon Filters, Reverse Osmosis, Alkaline Filters, UV Filters and Infrared Filters to purify water. Besides being an unnatural method to purify water, it does not get your water as pure as distilled purification.
Distilled Purified Water – Distilled Purified Water a type of purified water, distilled purified water goes through a process called distillation. This includes boiling the water, capturing the steam (pure H2O) and condensing it back into water. Distilled purified water contains no bacteria and eliminates contaminants; with a PPM of about 1 or less. This method is the most natural purification method and produces the highest grade and best tasting water.
